Description

The popular Fallout series makes the not-too-difficult leap from PC to Xbox with the release of Brotherhood of Steel. Continuing the tradition, the game is a third-person action adventure, inspired by the classic sci-fi films of the 1950s, set in a grim post-apocalyptic universe. Set after the events of the original Fallout, in which humans emerge from the safety of underground vaults to explore the earth following a nuclear holocaust, the game sees you join the titular Brotherhood of Steel. The purpose of this Brotherhood is to wage war against the mutant raiders and pirates, and to fulfil its search for a mysterious and much sought-after device, which, as is often the case, could be used either to help rebuild humanity or as a monstrous tool of war. Shying away slightly from its PC roots, the gameplay within Brotherhood of Steel is more console-orientated, placing more emphasis on action and combat rather then the original's RPG and strategy elements. As such, the action sees you utilising a combination of intense combat strategies, which integrate the full spectrum of over 50 melee, ranged and explosive weapons. Two players can join in the fight against the mutants and subsequently, the game offers up two playable characters, both customisable and both complete with unique strengths, attributes and traits, which can be developed throughout the game. Along the way, there's also a wealth of equipment that you can acquire from defeated enemies, such as stronger weapons and better armour. Which you're going to need - it's grim out there, the world needs saving, and someone's got to do it.
