Based on the Dreamworks summer blockbuster of the same name, Monsters vs. Aliens puts players in the skins of a selection of wacky and wonderful creatures.Dreamworks are as well known as Pixar for their rewarding and colourful take on children’s films. Monsters vs. Aliens takes the stunning visuals and creative plot of the smash hit film and puts them into a series of games across all formats. Playing as an assortment of monsters from the film, including B.O.B., Ginormica and Dr. Cockroach, players will need to use their individual abilities to survive. Themed stages will each take advantage of the monsters’ abilities, including platforming stages for more agile creatures and fast-paced action for the stronger of the bunch.With a selection of other Dreamworks titles under their belts, including Kung Fu Panda, Activision are well versed in moving films to games. Visually, the title manages to capture the style and charm of its cartoon sibling, with the same high production values and slick graphics of the film itself.Monsters vs. Aliens manages to recreate the colour and charisma of the summer film it is based on, moving its most popular characters into the digital realm with the same gorgeous visuals in place.
