Ty: The Tasmanian Tiger PS2

It seems we can't get enough of our 3D adventure platformers these days. The recipe for such a title is fairly simple: create a wacky character, build an extensive and aesthetically-pleasing gameworld, give tasks to the player - normally involving collecting things - and bingo! Well, fresh on the heels of the recent Ratchet and Clank, EA step into the fray with a little chap by the name of Ty. Raised by a pack of bilbies and with only vague memories of his family and friends, the boomerang-wielding hero believes himself to be the last remaining Tasmanian Tiger around. During a chance meeting with a mystical elder, Ty soon discovers that his fellow Tasmanian Tigers are still alive but trapped in another world called Dreamtime. It's here where the adventures begin, as players explore lush 3D environments, set in picturesque Australia, on the hunt for five stolen talismans that posses the power to open the Dreamtime portal. On the way, players find themselves visiting a wide range of locations, such as the rainforest, snowy mountains, desert and barrier reef. A diverse cast of characters populates each area - both friends and foes - each based on real-life animals, indigenous to the Australian Outback. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger doesn't bring anything new to the genre (apart from an extinct Tasmanian Tiger) but the familiar recipe it follows is well carried out. The result is a fast-paced and light-hearted adventure game, which features a comprehensive array of combat, puzzles and mini games.
