Description

The game returns players to the eerie town of Silent Hill in a new story following the original PSOne title. Players assume the role of James, who receives a cryptic letter from his wife beckoning him to meet her in Silent Hill, a place that holds great meaning for the couple. What would normally be a comforting, even romantic letter, scares and confuses James - his wife has been dead for three years. The mystery of the letter compels him to return to the surreal horror and all-too-real danger in Silent Hill. As with Inner Fears, the Director's Cut opens up a host of new areas to the player that were previously closed off in the original version, along with an assortment of new weapons and items. The main additions however, and also of most interest to owners of the original, are the inclusions of an entirely new chapter and the ability to take control of Maria, one of the central characters who bears a spooky resemblance to James' dead wife. The fact that Director's Cut has come out straight to Sony's Platinum range means that it's not an unjustifiable purchase for owners of the original SH2, thus helping keep fans of the series' collections complete. If you don't already own it, then you certainly can't argue at less than a score.
