Description

Today, many people know Konami best as the creators of ISS, Metal Gear, Silent Hill and International Track and Field. But they have also been responsible for the genuinely bizarre Bishi Bashi games and several successful ESPN games. Next up is Pro Tennis WTA Tour, and it's for GameCube. On first impressions, it appears obvious Konami has put considerable effort into the development of this welcome little tennis game. To begin with, the company has secured the license to include many real-life professional tennis players and their likenesses, not to mention ten famous world locations. Statistical titbits aside, Pro Tennis proves an accurate but pleasurable gaming experience combined with the arcade style gameplay Konami is famous for. Different playing surfaces such as clay and grass ensure players get a little variety in terms of handling, providing a lengthier learning curve and more challenging matches. Released on GameCube, Pro Tennis is aesthetically pleasing, boasting life-like characters, subtle animation that magnifies the realism of the players, and realistic courts. Like most other tennis games, Pro Tennis features the usual playing modes such as tournament, singles play and doubles play. It's pretty standard in that respect, but there's really nothing else players need to enjoy this game. Intuitive controls means players are able to quickly grasp the basics of the game and this allows them to formulate their own winning techniques as a virtual tennis player. It's only a matter of time before you become the ultimate master of the furry yellow ball.
