Description
Respect to publisher Atari, you really cannot get bigger or badder than this. The legendary monsters from Toho have made it to the GameCube. Let Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee move the earth for you. From here on on, it's scary monsters a-go-go. They're all here - Destoroyah, Gigan, Anguirus, Rodan and the rest - and all playable. In the single-player Adventure mode, players choose their character from the three initially available (a further nine can be unlocked as the gameplay progresses) and battle all the other famous Toho characters, one at a time, to take control of the cities and be crowned the king of the monsters. These epic battles take place in some familiar landmarks and locations from around the world, including San Francisco, Seattle and Tokyo, as well as the notorious Monster Island. The lovingly-detailed environments are brought to life by moving traffic and flashing neon signs. But nothing stops traffic or puts out the bright lights quite like a monster fight, and soon after the beasts begin to rumble, the cityscapes will look a little different. Anything can be destroyed in this game, and additional arenas can be earned and unlocked (and trashed) throughout. Another choice in single-player mode in Survival, where you try to knockout as many opponents as possible. One after another, you'll have to overcome whatever is put before you, and as with any Survival mode worth its salt, it gets tougher the further you progress. Your score is based on how many monsters you dispose of, and how quickly you manage to do it. There is a time limit of three minutes for each bout, and the KO has to come before time runs out. There are no 'continues'. Survival is the name of the game, see? As well as the single player adventure mode, players can fight it out in multi-player mayhem, with up to four players battling each other on-screen at the same time. Melee is a free-for-all battle for two to four players, and Team Battle is a three to four player melee where your monsters fight in unison against
